First Aid

The objective of this nationally recognized, evidence-based first aid program is to help students develop basic first aid knowledge, skills,and the confidence to respond to emergencies.  BASIC FIRST AID FOR THE COMMUNITY AND WORKPLACE is an objectives-driven, skill-based program that covers emergency response, severe bleeding and shock, soft-tissue injuries, bone, joint, and muscle injuries, medical emergencies, heat and cold-related illness and injury, and more.   This program is consistent with recommendations of the 2005 National First Aid Science Advisory Board and OSHA’s best practices for first aid training programs in the workplace.

CPR & AED

CPR & AED FOR THE COMMUNITY AND WORKPLACE is a basic life support program for laypersons who want or are required to have CPR and AED knowledge and skills, including emergency response teams in the workplace, school bus drivers, adult residential care personnel, child care workers, teachers, parents, and babysitters.  Participants learn to recognize the signs of sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, and stroke; relieve foreign body airway obstruction; perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation; and use an automated external defibrillator.  Program content is based upon American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and ECC and other evidence-based treatment recommendations.

Recertification

This course is for those who are currently certified.

 CPR Professional

CPR PRO FOR THE PROFESSIONAL RESCUER is a basic life support program designed for healthcare providers and first responders inside and outside the hospital.  The program covers sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, and stroke; foreign body airway obstruction; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; and use of an automated external defibrillator.  CPR PRO FOR THE PROFESSIONAL RESCURE program materials are based upon the most recent science, treatment recommendations and guidelines; meet the requirements of the Joint Commission; and are an equivalent and acceptable alternative to resuscitation programs offered by the American Heart Association, Inc. and American National Red Cross.  Additionally, CPR PRO FOR THE PROFESSIONAL RESCUER has been nationally approved by the Continuing Education Coordinating for Emergency Medical Services continuing education courses and course providers, and employs a peer-review process for accreditation similar to other healthcare professions.

Bloodborne Pathogens

The BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS program includes information that will help students understand what bloodborne pathogens are, and how to reduce the risk of exposure to themselves and others.  The program assists in satisfying the training requirements of the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030)

 Emergency Oxygen

Serious and life-threatening medical emergencies often cause oxygen to be depleted in the body, leaving the victim at risk for cardiac arrest or brain damage.  Supplemental oxygen is a critical step in treating a severe or life-threatening illness or injury.  EMERGENCY OXYGEN ADMINSTRATION program focuses on administering emergency oxygen, rescue breathing and oxygen delivery devices.

 Back Safety

BACK SAFETY IN THE WORKPLACE helps individuals to better understand and recognize injury hazard and ways to prevent back injuries.
